Freeing yourself from unresolved feelings

tumblr_mz904ekktx1qc9bp9o1_1280

It’s not uncommon to be walking around and engaging in everyday life with various unresolved feelings lying dormant. We have experiences that affect us in different ways and when left unaddressed, they set up tent and make a nice little home in our subconscious; just waiting for a chance – a similar situation or a quiet moment – to remind us of their existence.

The Beauty of Blankness

door-white

As I sit in my room typing this, I’m overwhelmed by all of the clutter in my room that I’ve been trying to sort out over the past year. By “trying to” I mean I’ve made half-ass attempts to make a plan to clean up and organize – but I generally give up before even really trying. I leave it to the ever elusive tomorrow. Just thinking about it stresses me out.

How to get yourself out of an unwelcome slump

tumblr_o86pn4p3tc1s48wp6o1_500

I’m doing this new thing when I’m feeling in a slump where I ask myself “what would I want my boyfriend or BFF to do for me?” then whatever the answer is – I do it for my damn self.

You Are Not an Accident

self shame

I was sitting in my room one morning when this phrase came to me in a fit of inspiration. I was feeling down on myself about things I could be doing better, ways that I wasn’t living up to what other people wanted from me. How I wasn’t this enough or that enough. How I wasn’t successful enough after an expensive college education and doing everything that we are told to do in order to be successful.

Time, Energy, and Hands

tumblr_li08fhbkjy1qfwprxo1_500

It’s Friday afternoon and there have been dirty dishes in the sink in all week long. These dirty dishes have taunted me as I ran in and out of the house all week. In from work, out for small group. In from work, out for a movie premier. In from work, out to a fictional world (via the pages of a book) while tucked in bed with a cup of tea. I just haven’t been able to shake these dishes in the sink.

Let it Out (and use your words)

distracted glitter rain

Despite the current obsession with reality star cat fights, champagne tosses, and baby mama drama (or baby daddy drama), the majority of us who reside in the actual real world, don’t seem to like confrontation so much. I’d go so far as to say that us millennials especially don’t like confrontation. Happily Ever After

tumblr_o1ywv9imhq1s03fboo1_500

We all want neat, satisfactory endings. We crave it. Happily Ever Afters are addicting. It’s why fairy tales and romantic comedy films are so successful. The guy gets the girl, the girl gets her guy and they ride off into the sunset on a white horse under a rainbow.

The truth about that greener grass

tumblr_ntd8ehdygl1qapuajo1_500

Spoiler Alert if you haven’t seen the latest installment of the Divergent movie series, Allegiant (or read the books). I got a bit of inspiration from it when I saw it for Cheap Ticket Tuesday yesterday with my sis and cousin. I got to see a movie in theaters for $6.71! My mother did not delay in reminding me of a grand ol’ time when that was the standard price for movies, but I digress.
